Lorde flipped the script as this time she welcomed Charli XCX onstage for a surprise performance of their viral remix Girl, So Confusing.
On Saturday night, October 18, during her Ultrasound World Tour stop at the Kia Forum, Los Angeles, Lorde called out to the crowd, asking, “Can I trust you?”
Then came the twist when the Royals singer, at the center of the B-stage of the 18,000-capacity venue, pulled out a sharpie and wrote a single word “GIRL” on her palm.
As her hand was projected on the giant screens, the crowd erupted instantly realising what was coming next.
Snippets of Charli began flashing onscreen, and the Brat hitmaker emerged from the back of the venue, striding across the floor as she launched into the opening verse of the song, which is a raw reflection on the complexities of female friendship.
Meanwhile, Lorde, 28, danced, swung and jumped under the spotlight. She later joined with her own verse from the remix, which went viral during the brat-green summer of 2024.
The crowd sing along feeding off the duo’s energy with every lyric and move. The two pop disruptors wrapped the performance side by side, dancing and laughing in a burst of pure joy.
For the unversed, the iconic pair previously performed the Brat remix during Charli and Troye Sivan’s Sweat Tour stop at New York’s Madison Square Garden last September, as well as during Charli’s Coachella set in April.
